How to test

• Create a content class with a Date field
• Set the default value of the Date field to "empty"
• Create a new object of the content class

-> The input fields are not empty, but pre-filled with 1970-01-01
-> When you manually empty the fields and store/publish the object, the field value is reset to 1970-01-01
