Unlike index.php and index_treemenu.php, index_rest.php has not been rewritten to go through the Symfony stack.

This makes it hard (impossible) to have rest-v1 code hook up to ez5 services and functionality, hampering evolution/integration of existing rest-v1 codebases.

Prime candidate for such integrations: ezcontentstaging extension.
