With the Content-Length header, it is possible to enable compression (gzip) for CloudFront; see http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudFront/latest/DeveloperGuide/ServingCompressedFiles.html

Some sites might not want this, so this functionality should be controlled by a setting.
