Steps:

1. A product was created based on product type with attribute: volume (without variants)
2. After some time I edited the Product type and enabled Volume, Skin Concern attributes to be used for variants generation
3. I generated variants for this existing product based on updated product type
4. Result: in variants we have different values for Volume, but the Volume attribute with its own value still exists on Base product level
   
   
   Current display can be confusing for buyers due to inconsistent data
   Possible solutions:
5. remove this attribute on the base product when it was used for variants
6. display all possible values of this attribute (defined for variants) on Base product level (tab: Attributes)
