Currently only contentId is used from the recommendations and all another attributes are imported from eZ DB. This can sometimes hit the performance. In the most cases (after imported is done) it is better to read the attributes directly from recommendations so there will be no needs to call DB. In this case it would be necessary to check if main attributes (title, image..) are not empty. It would be nice to have a possibility in configuration to switch between these two solutions.
