it seems to be there is something wrong with the new DFS Cluster Handler that we wrote.

Files that were accessed over content/download only works if they were used without file extension.

works (dummy URL!):
http://www.example.com//content/download/142924/2671030/version/1/file/comic

does NOT work:
http://www.example.com//content/download/142924/2671030/version/1/file/comic.swf

when embedding flash animation in content, the full filename is referenced.
note that in this case, a non-eZ player were used to play the swf file.
